April 17, 2018

On Thursday, April 12, the Leadership Greater Washington Community came together for the annual Leadership Awards Dinner.

The night’s programming celebrated LGW’s diverse membership and served as an opportunity to lay the foundation for the next wave of impact-driven programming, positively moving the dial in Greater Washington. This year’s sold-out event welcomed nearly 500 top business, nonprofit, community and government leaders. The LGW network, recognized Rosie Allen-Herring (Class of 2002), President and CEO of the United Way of the National Capital Area, as the 2018 Leader of the Years. Her influence and exceptional leadership have made Rosie a powerful voice and admired changemaker in the region. Rosie is the epitome of servant leadership, reminding LGW that we as a community must do more, give more and be more for Greater Washington, and we thank her for her numerous contributions to the region.

The Leadership Awards Dinner also included a few surprises and members highlights including an interactive social media wall and excellent program hosting by Leon Harris of  NBC4. Guests were also entered to win an exclusive giveaway sponsored by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington. One lucky winner went home with a progressive dining experience at two of Jose Andres restaurants, barmini and Zaytinya for them and seven guests, including Doug Duncan (’15), President and CEO of LGW and Kathy Hollinger (’04), President and CEO of RAMW.

With the support of almost 90 sponsorships and the fundraising efforts of the Leadership Awards Dinner Host Committee, LGW raised over $300,000 which will directly support LGW programming dedicated to collaborating, connecting and convening the LGW membership and solving issues across the region.
