August 3, 2018

On Friday, July 13, Leadership Greater Washington had the pleasure of welcoming Lonnie G. Bunch III, Founding Director of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Mr. Bunch is celebrated as one of the nation's leading figures in the historical and museum community and was recently featured on Politico's Annual 50 List. More than 100 LGW members, and regional leaders attended the inspiring conversation, moderated by Richard Bynum (‘13) of PNC. The discussion covered Lonnie’s insights on culture and leadership, including the importance of supporting growth in museums and the significance of cultural institutions and their role in helping business organizations and government transform communities. Lonnie also graciously answered audience questions ranging from questions focused on specific NMAAHC exhibits to feedback on leadership strategies. Thank you to Lonnie, NMAAHC, and our series partner PNC for a creating a space for the LGW membership to participate in a crucial conversation on the intersection of arts, culture, society and leadership.
