Washington, D.C. - On October 5th, Leadership Greater Washington hosted its annual Fall Kick Off at the Anderson House in Dupont Circle. Nearly 250 local business, government, non-profit, and community leaders gathered at the historic venue to kick off the beginning of a new year of community-focused LGW programs and events. The 2016 Fall Kick Off, presented by Total Wine and sponsored by Linder Global Events, brought together members and guests to rekindle old friendships and bridge new connections between regional leaders.
The night began with networking over the cocktail hour in the elegant charm of the grand ballroom and was followed by a warm welcome to members and the newly-commenced Class of 2017 by LGW President & CEO Doug Duncan (’15) and Chairman of the Board Joe Budzynski (’06). They were joined by former LGW Board Chair, Maxine B. Baker (’99), to present the Maxine R. Baker Youth Leadership Greater Washington Scholarship Award. Oshae Moore, a YLGW graduate and senior at Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, VA was honored as the winner of this year’s award for her outstanding demonstration of leadership potential in her competitive essay-based application for the scholarship.
For the main event of the night, our guests remained in the ballroom for a procession of LGW Signature Program’s latest and greatest graduating class – Sweet ’16. As they made their way through the LGW community, bright ribbons and richly-colored balloons falling from the second floor gave our graduates’ march through the crowd a delightful panache as they were welcomed by cheers into full membership by the LGW family.
