Message from President and CEO Doug Duncan ('15)

March 27, 2020

Dear LGW Community,

I first want to take a moment to wish you all health, safety, and resiliency and to recognize the inspiring unity and collaboration of LGW leaders during this time of crisis.

Creating the path forward is testing each leader. The values we hold and the experience we share are essential as we navigate constant change.

To help us prepare, stay socially connected, and engage in action, we have developed the following plan for carrying out our mission virtually for the duration of the pandemic:

Leadership Today Series

Join LGW leaders each week for our interactive virtual series focused on problem-solving, strategy, management and leadership through these unpredictable times. Register today for our March 31 episode hosted by LGW Board Chair Mahan Tavakoli (’98). Everyone is welcome to join.

Frontline Conversations

LGW leaders are engaging throughout our local community to offset the devastating impacts of coronavirus. Join interactive dialogues with leaders on impact and relief during the crisis. All are encouraged to register and invite friends and colleagues.

Lunch at your Laptop

How can we best take care of ourselves and others during the pandemic? Let’s do lunch and discuss. Join in, chat it up, and connect. Our “Lunch at the Palm,” series is shifting to “Lunch at Your Laptop.” Registration is now open for our April 21 virtual lunch (for active LGW members).

Programs with a Purpose

A crisis of this magnitude demands new paradigms. The collective solutions we determine will define our world. Join the conversation with thought leaders to discover insights on strengthening our economy and society.

Member Dinners

Our time-honored tradition is going online for now. Host, join, elaborate and share your recipes for leadership. Details are available here.

Leadership Awards Dinner

Artis Hampshire-Cowan (’89) was previously scheduled to be honored as our 2020 Leader of the Years. As the outbreak of COVID-19 unfolds, we are determining plans for our 2020 Leadership Awards Dinner. Thank you to our committed sponsors, host committee and LGW network. Meanwhile, let’s congratulate Artis.

The Signature Program

We are accepting applications for the Signature Program Class of 2021. Be sure to recommend your qualified colleagues and peers by April 17.

This is the time to exemplify the values central to Leadership Greater Washington. Join us virtually with the links above and share your perspective.

Sincerely,

Douglas Duncan (’15)

President and CEO
